“In the short space of 3 years, the Frugal Innovation Forum has established itself as a major fixture in the world of development. Bringing together leading practitioners from the NGO, corporate and entrepreneurial sectors along with academics and policy makers, the forum has proven an excellent platform for debate and the sharing of best practice. More importantly it has created a global network of people and organisations who are working tirelessly to make the world a better place by doing more (and better) with less in South Asia and beyond.”
Jaideep Prabhu, Professor of Cambridge University and Co-author of Jugaad Innovation- described by The Economist as “the most comprehensive book yet on the subject” of frugal innovation.
Every year millions around the world are affected by various natural calamities and disasters. South Asia is one of the most climate-vulnerable regions. Across the region, many communities face poverty and extreme challenges from natural disasters, such as floods, droughts, and cyclones.
With current climate change projections, these issues will only grow. Eliminating poverty requires new models that empower people to survive and even thrive in the face of changing environments and weather-related incidents.
Organised by BRAC Social Innovation Lab, the 2016 Frugal Innovation Forum will look at innovations in climate change, disaster management, adaptive livelihood and agriculture. We will build on the global discussions at COP21 in Paris and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), but with a clear focus on the priorities for South Asia.
Our goal is action: What do we know about strengthening livelihoods, financial and social protections, and policies to increase resilience for the poorest? How can we build on the regional experiences to accelerate better programs and policies?
We invite you to join us and leading development practitioners, climate scientists, activists, academics, policymakers and social innovators to discuss how to build a resilient future for all. Apply for an invitation today!
