Ms China Rahman is present Women Secretary at IndustriALL Bangladesh Council. Graduated from the National University, Bangladesh, she has been an active trade unionist since 2000 and holds multifaceted leadership roles both within the national and sectoral union movement that includes ‘Secretary’ at Bangladesh Free Trade Union Congress and ‘General Secretary’ at the Federation of Garment Workers. She was also one of the founding trustee members at WRC (Workers Resource Centre) – a joint platform between two leading worker organizations – the National Coordination Committee on Workers Education (NCCWE) and IndustriALL Bangladesh Council (IBC), supported by the ILO’s SDIR project funded by Sweden and Denmark. China endured her continuous interest and advocacy on the rights of women workers, gender equality and freedom from discrimination and an evangelist for ‘Just Transition’ – a framework developed by the trade union movement to encompass a range to social interventions needed to secure workers’ rights and livelihoods when economies are shifting to sustainable production, primarily combating climate change and protecting biodiversity. China was the first women general secretary at IBC for term 2020.
