FRUGAL INNOVATION FORUM 2018

Welcome to Global South, where 85% of global youth are building a future for all of us to thrive in.

Frugal Innovation Forum (FIF) is a platform for leaders from the Global South to connect and explore solutions to the world’s toughest challenges. FIF 2018 will explore the theme “Scaling opportunities for youth’, featuring development practitioners and funders, young change-makers and innovators in a 2 day long conference to collaborate for impact at scale.

The Frugal Innovation Forum sets up the space for discourse on existing best practices. The conference kickstarts with a day-long field visit for those who want an exclusive experience of frugal innovations in Bangladesh, followed by two days of intense debates and plenaries on disruptive models and solutions.

The discussions, workshops and plenaries are going to focus on

  1. 21st century skills
  2. Impact of technology on youth
  3. Youth on the move
Stay tuned for more updates on the sessions.

Jugaad, or ‘frugal innovation’ approach was always an inherent feature and a unique offering of Global South. This creative approach can be borrowed for wide-scale adoption and large-scale change for dynamic social impact. With this in mind, FIF was created with the aim to explore deeper into Global South’s fascinating potential, to develop a platform to amplify what is already happening across the region, and by bringing innovators together to learn, share and scale up low-cost models.

The sixth forum will explore the theme of youth in the Global South and connect non-profit innovators, social entrepreneurs and emerging leaders to catalyse lasting change with limited resources. The conference will be designed to inspire more effective and impactful actions through discussions and debates about youth empowerment in the Global South.

  1. By practitioners for practitioners
  2. Field exposure and hands-on learning with an emphasis on co-creation
  3. Hosted by the world’s #1 ranked non-government development organisation

Calling all those who are young at heart!
