Is the development sector up to date?
As the world changes, approaches to development need to keep up. Poverty is increasingly concentrated—as nations grow, certain populations are left behind. There are growing expectations on local governments and businesses to address the rising tide of inequality. Many are on the front lines, pioneering new approaches--using cost-recovery models, social entrepreneurship, and impact investment. In order to reach the bottom billion, we need solutions that can scale sustainably.
On March 23-24, 2015 BRAC Social Innovation Lab hosted the 3rdFrugal Innovation Forum on the theme of “Pushing the boundaries of development”. We brought together leading development practitioners, impact investing experts and social entrepreneurs from the Global South to explore financially sustainable solutions for the development sector in the post-2015 era.
